Our Favourite Molasses Cookies / by Linda Klimack

¾ cup butter
¾ cup granulated sugar
1 large egg, beaten
¼ cup molasses
2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour

½ teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 tablespoon ground allspice
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • Cream shortening and sugars until fluffy - Mix in beaten egg, then molasses
  • Add dry ingredients
  • Preheat oven to 350℉
  • Form into 1 inch balls and roll in additional sugar
  • Place on greased cookie sheet and flatten with a fork - Bake for 12-15 minutes
